Decades ago, who would have thought JK Rolling would become one of the faces of bigotry and intolerance

OP:

I’m embarrassed that I once wasted my time reading her books

Replying to:
JK Rowling is now reposting conversion therapists

I definitely don't recommend reading the replies, it's just depressing.

Except this one:
Sinclair Lewis told John Steinbeck before an interview that you should never meet your idols because they will disappoint you and will dislike them afterwards. This is not the same but as close as I can get to that truth.

But I am very disappointed in her. She could have used her voice and fortune to do so much good in the world.

Harry Potter went through so much to defeat. The Death Eaters in the books are bigoted against Muggle born witches and wizards. Rowling is bigoted against trans people.

to conversion therapy. On the record she is against conversion therapy for gay kids (like I hope all of us here) BUT she is extremely conservative regarding her view of administering hormones for gender reaffirming care. In other words, what she did isn't the same as portrayed in the OP. I don't agree with her position, but it's not exactly what you say.
