Get ready to read the most RIDICULOUS THING you will read in 2025. I'm not kidding.

'They're gonna confine him': Legal expert flags evidence Supreme Court will rein Trump in

https://www.rawstory.com/supreme-court-rein-trump-in/

Legal expert Norm Eisen, who worked in the White House as special counsel and special assistant to the president for ethics and government reform, is also known for being a thorn in the president's side.

"The Supreme Court is clearly concerned also, if you look at the trajectory of their cases rejecting Donald Trump again and again on issues like immigration," Eisen said. "He said he would be a dictator on day one. The essence of dictatorship is this kind of defying the constitution and laws, so it's not only on the 14th amendment, but across the board."

"We were in court with a big coalition on Friday. He's reorganizing the entire federal government unconstitutionally, and that federal court agreed. We won on Friday. We got a [Temporary Restraining Order]," he added. "Trump is running amok. The Supreme Court are not just robots calculating the meaning of the words in the constitution. They're human beings. They're political actors. They see this run amok administration, this unlawful administration."

He concluded, "So that coloration also tends to lead me to believe they're going to confine him."

CONTEXT:

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas told his law clerks in the '90s that he wanted to serve for 43 years to make liberals' lives 'miserable'

"The liberals made my life miserable for 43 years," a former clerk remembered Thomas – who was 43 years old when confirmed – saying, according to The New York Times. "And I'm going to make their lives miserable for 43 years."

1. Not sure where the ridiculous part comes in

I’m guessing you’re skeptical about something in this story, but it’s not obvious to me.

5. I'm skeptical about the Supreme Court "successfully" taking any action against Trump

I'm also skeptical about...at minimum...Thomas and Alito willingly going along with it.

I don't believe for one second that the SCOTUS is going to "rein Trump in."

8. Regarding the AEA

I have absolutely no doubt SCOTUS will rule 7-2 supporting the lower court rulings that there is no “invasion” to justify invoking the AEA.

Whether that will “rein in” Trump and his goons is hard to say, but AFAIK, (Garcia case aside) they haven’t defied any federal court rulings (although it should be noted most rulings only narrowly apply to the district/state where they were made).

A SCOTUS ruling, however, would apply to the whole nation.

9. OK, but...as a daily observer of events following January 20th...

...if the SCOTUS supports the lower courts and Trump simply turns around and does a "Truth Social" rant about how the SCOTUS is nuts, how will the ruling matter?

Sure. it probably will be 7-2. I don't see Sammy and Clarence EVER taking a principled stand against Trump. And I don't question the fact that may "issue a ruling." I also don't doubt that Trump will have the ruling printed on 2-ply and will then use it accordingly.

I'm questioning the concept that ANYTHING THE SCOTUS DOES AT THIS POINT will matter, because they CREATED this monster, and I don't believe they will be successful in "un-creating" it. I think Trump will just stay in "kiss my ass" mode, and Roberts will do the Susan Collins thing and issue sternly worded statements about how he's concerned about Trump's behavior. Trump will be made aware of it and within minutes, it will be "KISS MY ASS" time on Truth Social.

Except for the Garcia case, AFAIK, the Trump administration, although playing cocky and coy, has not defied a federal court ruling after the ruling is handed down. They act with lawless impunity beforehand, but so far, haven’t defied a court order (within the narrow confines of some of the rulings).

With the DC court rulings that affect the entire executive branch, they have begrudgingly reinstated staff terminated by the DOGEbags (as the ruling applies to the specific categories of employees). Other rulings about frozen funds, etc. have been appealed with stays, so they aren’t being defied, just in limbo at this time.

15. Then, it's over. If only as Democrats we had been more vigilant rather than thinking

that our democracy would last forever. How art the mighty fallen! I hope that the surviving free nations of the world can actually learn from what has happened here.

13. Although it certainly qualifies as ridiculous, the year is not half over and it's up against some really wacky shit

A bit early to give out the annual award, I think. Depending on where you draw boundaries, shit like Hegseth's team meetings on Signal could qualify as ridiculous, so the competition's potentially quite steep.
