They have demonized the marginalized and disenfranchised.

And too many Democrats are complicit and outright backstabbing any progress toward a truly egalitarian society. They want to preserve the exploitation of resources and people.

8. That's a lot of it...

…but not all. This is about fear and hatred of women as well. These repulsive so called men want to subjugate women and force them to submit to their will. Younger women convinced themselves that hearts and minds were changed by progressive legislation. They weren’t; it just went underground, much like racism. Sadly, young women are finding that out now. They must be profoundly disillusioned.

I don’t know why people like Schumer and Jeffries are seemingly capitulating to the MAGAts. I truly wish I did.

6. Because ICE existed before Trump

I think it should be abolished but more because of its origins in the post 9/11 national security frenzy that needs to be radically reconsidered.

The current ICE is obviously bad, but Trump would have done this with INS or border patrol or whatever group. ICE itself is a symptom of the far right nationalist authoritarian rather than inherently bad. ICE wasn't acting like this under Obama.

That said, I'd be in favor of every ICE street agent being reviewed after this administration and many of them going on trial.

7. It's a symptom of national PTSD over 9/11

For years, virtually no politician could ask for directions to the bathroom without invoking 9/11 in the request.

I’m sorry to say that all these machinations are in aid of not being seen as “soft” on immigration so as to win the elections. It’s a calculation for them - and I’m talking about the leadership and maybe some others. Morality plays a small role and that’s the sad truth. Because we have such a poor leader and communicator in Schumer, an alternative for ICE isn’t being offered to the public.
