https://archive.is/GNf6JBiery's ruling accuses the Trump administration of " ignorance of an American historical document called the Declaration of Independence," and contends that the case against Conejo Arias and his son "has its genesis in the ill-conceived and incompetently-implemented government pursuit of daily deportation quotas, apparently even if it requires traumatizing children."

What irks me the most about this is the family came here legally, nobody from the family committed any crimes that we know of while here, yet these monsters still did this to them.

(22,313 posts)Kudos to the judge, BUT how many court orders has ICE ignored or outright defied in the last year? I can't remember, but I know it's a very large number. Even when they carry one out, they invent as many excuses to drag their feet as possible and create as many unnecessary delays as they can. (Exhibit A: the Kilmar Abrego Garcia case, which took a Supreme Court decision to get a mistakenly deported person returned to the the U.S.)
For the above reasons, I'm not going to breathe a sigh of relief until they're back home, safe and sound. Fingers crossed🤞that this will happen soon.
Note: I used to call myself a cockeyed optimist, but Trump 2.0 has been gradually beating that out of me. I didn't realize just how much until I read this o.p. I hope to God that the country will be rid of that Orange Hellbeast before I and and many others are permanently, irresistibly embittered.

In a sharply worded statement, U.S. District Judge Fred Biery said the administrative warrants issued by the executive branch to its own agents do not pass probable cause muster.
That is called the fox guarding the henhouse, he wrote. The Constitution requires an independent judicial officer.
Below his signature, the judge also included the now well-known photo of Ramos as he was taken into custody wearing a Spider-Man backpack and a bright blue hat. The photo and Liams detainment sparked outrage across the country and further inflamed tensions between Minnesota residents and the Trump administrations immigration enforcement efforts there.,.....
The detention of children at the South Texas Family Residential Center in Dilley has drawn mounting backlash in recent weeks. Outside the heavily secured compound on Wednesday, hundreds of faith leaders, labor organizers and advocates marched toward the detention center, calling for the release of families held inside.
In a statement Saturday afternoon, Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-Texas) thanked people across the country and world for speaking out in support of Liam and so many other children in detention. He added that he had also reached out to Liams mom and lawyers to tell them he would continue to do everything I can to make sure he is safe.
