Have we not all heard about some of the Epstein Files being posted by the DOJ and then pulled back off?
THIS SHOULD BE LITERALLY ALL WE TALK ABOUT FOR THE NEXT 50 YEARS
Have you not read them or at least heard accounting of them by people?
It's some of the most horrific shit I've ever read. I mean as horrible as you could possibly imagine and much worse.
It directly implicates Mango Mussolini, eLoon, Bill Gates and a bunch of others.
It wasn't posted by a news agency.
It wasn't posted by a whistleblower.
It was posted by the the DOJ on their official page for Epstein related files.
If we, as a society, just do what we always do and collectively shrug and move on, again, like we always do, I will loss all faith in humanity and just pull back from here and everywhere else and just let that collective humanity eat its own tail and fade from existence, without a single word or complaint from me.
This sadistic assholes are more vile then we ever imagined.
What upsets me even more is that there are hundreds of FBI agents and DOJ lawyers supposedly going through this and if this is the stuff they are seeing and not doing anything about it then they are complicit in their crimes.
We should be dragging these people out of their homes and putting them on trial immediately. Not tomorrow. Today.
I have no more words. Do with this information what you will.

(22,385 posts)While significant and important, the Epstein files should not be literally all we talk about for the next 50 years!.
You do know the definition of the word literally, right?
The sad fact is, there are far too many topics regarding the crimes, corruption and atrocities of the Trump era that could occupy investigations, conversations and historical record keeping for the next 100 years.
Epstein is but one of them, but it is nowhere near the top of the list on what must be examined in order to repair democracy and restore essential civil rights.
You do realize that 1)some of the most salacious, disturbing content in the files is likely inadmissible as evidence in court, such as explicit reports to the FBI tip line, and 2) the statute of limitations has expired on many, if not all these alleged crimes.
The only accountability likely remaining is via suits in civil court.

(11,849 posts)We should just let go and ignore it. Do as we're told. My bad.

(22,385 posts)I didnt say Epstein should be ignored, I merely disagreed with your pronouncement that it should be the ONLY issue to be focused on, talked about or dealt with for the next 50 years.

(11,849 posts)I am not compromising on sexual assault and pedophiles.
For reference I am a survivor of multiple attacks as a child by two different people. One a neighbor, the other an adult babysitter.
Also for reference, it appears that most attacks would have happened in either NY or FL. In NY they have until they are 55 years old. In Florida, for attacks on a minor 16 or younger (which most were) there is no statute of limitations.
Also, obviously the 50 years thing was being a little facetious because I'm frustrated at the complete lack or sense of urgency given how horrific the crime is and as is represented here, you were the only comment.
It obvious I care about this more than most people. Most people just don't care about stuff like this anymore. It's all about making memes or getting a good line in against the people we don't like and a lot less about actually holding them accountable for their crimes.
I mean Democrats in Congress keep saying they want to "hold ICE to the same standards as police", the people that are famously held accountable all the time. That never steal, beat, rape or murder people. I don't know of a single city in America that holds its police department to any standard that is worth the paper it's written on.

(972 posts)Presidents down the road in 50 years. We'll win some and we'll lose some, but this stuff will be long gone way before then.

(11,849 posts)But they are giving every indication they have no intention of ever giving up control. Might not be Mango Mussolini, my guess it will be some billionaire or some lackey controlled by the billionaires like he has been.
As far as midterms, to be honest, they are irrelevant. Even if Democrats take control, why would they care? They can ignore Congress if they want because, for the most part, they have been.
I think the only difference if Democrats win, they will cut Congress out of the budget process and just start spending what they want and how they want. There isn't a whole lot people can do to stop them. They control the police, the military and the supreme court.
