Demonstrators will gather in thousands of locations across the United States for the third series of No Kings protests against the Trump administrations policies.
More than 3,000 local events have been planned for Saturday, in what organizers say will be the largest collective protest in American history. Dozens of events have also been planned outside the U.S.
People across the country are organizing, showing up for their neighbors, and making one thing unmistakably clear: we are done with the corruption, the cruelty, and the authoritarianism, Ezra Levin, co-executive director of the advocacy group Indivisible, wrote in a statement earlier this month.
This will be the third No Kings protest event since the start of President Trumps second term. The first was held on June 14, the same day as the U.S. Armys 250th anniversary military parade in Washington, D.C. which was also Trumps 79th birthday. An estimated 5 million people gathered at 2,100 locations. The second edition in October may have been even bigger. Organizers estimated that 7 million people took part, while an independent estimate put the number at between 5 million and 6.5 million.

(25,471 posts)I'm getting a dishwasher delivered/installed tomorrow. As of right now I don't know what time they'll be here. They say they'll call in the morning and give me their 2 hour window.
I asked if they could give me a late window but they go by zip code so they can't do that.
I.am.bummed.

(4,967 posts)I haven't been to any of them yet--- but I have a lot of 'issues'---
Lack of working personal transportation, avoiding the cold, some difficulty walking very far
or being on my feet for too long, and an aversion to being in any crowds as well as
personal dislike to strangers speaking to me in person, both of which were
worsened by the COVID crisis.... I'm a very shy guy, in person....
(but on the internet, I'm an 'armchair warrior' hahaha!)
However..... I note that there's another 'No Kings' protest scheduled for June this year---
I have hopes of actually making that one, and am placing myself 'in reserve'!
(At least it won't be too cold by that point.... and maybe I can buy myself a 'folding chair'!)
GOD BLESS (so to speak) ALL of you patriots who can show up tomorrow !!!

(10,072 posts)It was pretty low-key, people waving & holding signs on the side of a road in suburban Atlanta. We got lots of peace signs, thumbs up, waving, & horn honking. Good positive energy! Nice weather, too--sunny, mid 60s.

(1,319 posts)Monticello NY, about half the turnout of the last one but I think it was the horrible wind with the 30 degree temps that kept people home.
Ran into people we haven't seen in years.
