Houthis Just Joined the War: Iran's Proxy Opens Southern Front

This makes things a little more complex
So the Houthis have joined the war in the Middle East, which isn't great and adds some complexity to an already difficult situation. We look at the ways the Houthis may try to influence events and what that could mean for the larger war effort. Additional, a new piece by Nadav Eyal raises the suggestion that Iranian leadership may be living in a fantasy land, unaware of the damage inflicted to their military. If that's the case, we shouldn't expect them at the negotiating table anytime soon.

"living in a fantasy land", so why should Iran be different?

You mean the ones Saudi Arabia and the US have been bombing for a decade? The ones they dismissed as "irrelevant"?

All eyes now on the Bab al-Mandab Strait, the supply chain choke point. Every barrel of oil moving between Asia and Europe passes through it. if it closes, global energy markets collapse overnight. This is David vs Goliath redux, but with drones.

And it's still March. But fear not yet because

April is the cruelest month of all...
That corpse you planted last year in your garden, / Has it begun to sprout?...
I will show you fear in a handful of dust...
Shantih shantih shantih...

The "fun" is only starting.

They can always ship through the Suez Canal. Still, there is a limit to the shipping traffic in a given day. Can it handle the largest shipping vessels? Just shaking my head.

"Absolute bombshell. The Houthis officially declare a 3-phase war strategy. They are imposing a total naval blockade on Israel and issue a terrifying warning: if Washington intervenes, they will obliterate US military bases across Saudi Arabia and Oman."
