(3,367 posts)given we know how they monitor social media, probably not wise to post about violating federal immigration law. which is what the lawyer would likely say.

(5,100 posts)The realities of "mass deportation" are that they have neither sufficient resources nor legal support to make it truly "mass". That said, if they can pick up 5% of those they would like to target and you get caught up in it the negative result is the same for you. I get that they can pick-up the individual green card holder but somehow I really thought that the legal protections when that holder was married to an American citizen were well codified. You think of all the war brides after WW2 and such.

(8,819 posts)They are going after people that are still in the process of applying for change of status arresting them at appointments or border crossings.
I would still be careful and avoid traveling outside the US for the next three years in order to not have to interact with cbp at the border when flying back.

Or maybe I'm just noticing them more since there always seems to be people in the process of buying phones, instead of a lonely table under a market umbrella or canopy.
Lots more people buying burner phones....

(8,819 posts)They can't deport me, but they can certainly make it a pain, detain me for hours, etc.
We flew to Europe early this month. When we came back, I had backed up my Android phone, wiped it, and reinstalled only a few normal apps.
After we crossed back into the US, I restored from backup.
It works well if you know what you are doing (i.e., turn off auto-backup after you wipe your phone, or you will override your original backup and lose everything).

(6,526 posts)both worried about being detained. This is inexcusable. But now that the gubmint is going after DACA residents, it's getting absurd.
We need to call our senators and representatives and complain about this criminal behavior. We were told that DHS was going after "the worst of the worst," not law-abiding solid citizens.
