TWO SANTA CLAUS THEORY

Synchronicity. Seeing the Huff Post article on the GOP ballroom and Ice Bill adding $72 billion to the deficit is a perfect example of the republican two Santa Claus theory. This was brought up today on Tom HARTMANN’s show.

The way it works is that when the Republicans are in power they give huge tax cuts to their billionaire donors and spend as much as possible in order to increase the size of the debt. This is their Santa Claus. When the Democrats are in power, the Republicans point to the huge deficit that they created and scream and yell about how we can’t initiate any social programs to help the middle class And the poor because of the size of the deficit. This means the Democrats cannot spend money to help the middle class and the poor, which is the Democratic Santa Claus.

This is a real thing!! It was created by a republican operative by the name of Jude Wanniski in 1976. The Republicans have literally, literally been employing this tactic since Ronald Reagan. Why the Democratic Party does not point this out and continues to not talk about it is at this point somewhat insane. The two Santa Claus theory should be a meme, not only in the Democratic Party, but in the nation as a whole. If every Democratic representative whenever they had any airtime would point out the Republican two Santa Claus theory and how they use it to keep the Democratic Party from enacting social programs that will help the middle class and the poor then maybe this would break in to the mainstream media.


when I call my Democratic representatives, I tell the aides to just put two Santa Claus theory into any search engine and it will come up. Again, the Republicans have literally been using this since Ronald Reagan. It is time , well past time , for the Democratic Party to start pointing out what the Republicans are doing. It’s easy to explain. It has the visual of two Santa Claus, which makes it easy to remember. This should be and could be a very useful tool for the Democratic Party..

2. The reason the Democrats are seen as suckers is that they don't ever give

any indication that they know they were played by the Republicans. They should come into office pointing out how much the Republicans spent in the last term. And just be accurate about what they're talking about. It will be a learning moment for the American people.
