When people ask how we got here, this pair's failure to lead and act in that moment will be part of the answer.

Jaime Harrison @harrisonjaime
@Sen_JoeManchin and @kyrstensinema will go down in history as two of the people who stood at the doorway and blocked the passage of the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act when democracy and Black political power were under assault.

History teaches us what happens when leaders choose political comfort over moral courage. The Hayes Tilden Compromise ended Reconstruction and unleashed nearly a century of disenfranchisement, terror, and the systematic destruction of Black political power across the South.

Different era. Different names. Same devastating consequences.

When people ask how we got here, their failure to lead and act in that moment will be part of the answer.

John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2025 (H.R.14)

This bill has 220 cosponsors — 220 Democrats — plus its sponsor.

There should be no equivocating or using weasel words.

Kill the filibuster and expand the court.

January 20, 2029.

Expand the damn court and get all this shit reversed to make it easier on them. Another reason. I believe if the polls continue to be bad for repukes they will go as far as to offer billions to Alito and/or Thomas to resign before Jan 1st and push through 2 more. I'd lay even money on this scenario.

Even if they have to be “rubbed-out”.
It’s a small price for a big prize.
They couldn’t resist. Besides, they are both past their “Best Buy Date “ anyway.
And pay-off for Cannon or one of the other Parking-lot “jurists” for their sycophantic slavering.
NOTHING is too wild in this most Stupid Timeline.

If Dems retake the senate in November, one or both Clarence and Alito will retire, but it won’t matter, even if Trump puts Barron and Tiffany on the court, as long as Dems expand the court in 2029 and neutralize the current MAGA majority.

That she was the first openly female bisexual member of the Senate and that she did NOT swear in on a bible, but on copies of both the US Constitution and the State of Arizona constitution.

DU absolutely LOVED her for that.

I remember it very clearly.

There was thread after thread that lauded her for her positions and that she was an ally of the LGBTQ community.

But it didn't really pan out, did it?

Someone clearly got to her just as they got to many others that reach that level with high intentions and go the other way, to wit John Fetterman.

"Look, just vote the way we tell you, have one term in the senate, maybe two and you and your family will never have to worry about money for the rest of your life."

That's a pretty compelling sales pitch.

And that's the government we have allowed to exist forever.

didn't waste any time whatsoever showing her true colors. She didn't even TRY to pretend she was the liberal Democrat that her constituents voted for. What a slap in the face that was!

Then she went out of her way to avoid the voters who sent her to Washington. Did she honestly think people would forget? What a dishonest, miserable person.

...along with their opposition to their imagined 'illegal immigrant' vote.

Even in that, you can always follow the money to the motivation.

Took 160 years but it’s over. Lincoln should have unleashed Sherman and Grant.
