A three-star navy rear-admiral fired by Pete Hegseth last year in the defense secretarys purge of senior US military officials has won the Democratic primary in a closely watched congressional race.
Nancy Lacore secured the partys nomination for the US House of Representatives in South Carolinas first congressional district on Tuesday after defeating Mac Deford, a US Coast Guard veteran, in a runoff.
Lacores focus will now turn to November, when she will lead an ambitious Democratic bid to flip the Republican seat in the US midterm elections.

(24,500 posts)1. This is my CD. Her entire campaign ads were that
1) she was an Admiral and 2) she was fired. She has lived here less than one year.
She wasnt my choice, but of course Ill support her. Her Republican opponent is a sitting Charleston County council member and a lifelong resident.

Couldn't she run there? I guess being in navy she travelled her whole life.

she joined the Navy. I dont know if her parents are still alive. She has six children, but I think they are all adults.

Go Nancy Lacore! I can't vote for her but I can support her, and I hope she wins.
