One of the joys...

... of living in rural Vermont is occasionally coming nose to nose with our resident bear. I shooed him away, but as soon as I closed the door he came back to nosh on what was left in the bird feeders I'd gone out to collect. Had to give him a blast of the old bear horn. Morning will show what's left of the feeders. Whatever. Sharing 8 or 10 feet of space with a black bear does get the old heart aflutter.

One night… say 2:30, I heard the noise… so mad that my bee hive had been tipped over, I didn’t care that it was a big bear clawing for bee larva…. I ran out closer than any sane person should be and yelled at him to Get Out!!

I am not at the house now and my daughter recently texted me pictures of a baby playing in the garden…. Yes I miss the bears
