At least 23 dead as storms batter states from Heartland to East Coast

At least 23 people were reported dead across several states in an expansive outbreak of severe weather from the US heartland to the East Coast.

State officials reported 14 people were killed in Kentucky, 7 in Missouri and 2 in Virginia.

At least 600,000 people are now without power from Michigan to Tennessee.

Remnant storms from Friday's severe weather outbreak are continuing into Saturday morning and, as of this morning, 26 tornadoes have been reported from Friday's storms in Kentucky, Indiana, Missouri, Illinois and one from New Jersey.

God, it's going to be an interesting year with no weather service nor FEMA.

I pray my house doesn't get hit. Prayer and a reliable insurance company is all we can hope for. Oh, and a hollowed-out tree in light of the future demise of FDIC.

That's seems like a lot. I cannot remember so many deaths from a storm system. Even hurricanes rarely have more than that

This is directly related to the cutting of resources for NWS and cut in general.

Hope we're in the group they get to early, rather than the few who take longer

Spent the day hauling refrigerated and frozen food to my daughter's and charging phones. I had set aside the day to plant my tomatoes. Two of them snapped off last night before I could haul their little pots back into the garage.
