Wes Moore, Tim Walz urge for a fiercer Democratic party at famed Jim Clyburn Fish Fry

Source: ABC News

May 31, 2025, 5:10 AM

Democratic governors Tim Walz and Wes Moore are fired up - but not solely to eat South Carolina Rep. Jim Clyburn's so-called "world famous" breaded fish.

They're fired up to refocus their party, and on Friday evening, both pitched their theory of how to build up coalitions and win back the Americans they've lost: emphasize the political gravity of the moment forcefully and frequently, and don't wait until the midterms to talk to as many constituencies as possible.

"Each and every one of us, we're not going to have someone come save us. But who wants that? We can save ourselves. We can get out there. We can make a difference," said Minnesota Gov. Walz during brief remarks on stage to a few hundred Democrats in Columbia, South Carolina. "We need to change the attitude, compete in every district, compete for every school board seat, and come out to this damn fish fry with the attitude: 'we're going to fill up on some fish, and then we are going to beat the hell out of these dictators.'"

Moore, the first Black governor of Maryland, in his remarks stressed that the "baton is in our hands." "We are not going to drop it. We are going to run through the tape, and we are going to win because we understand what's at stake," said Moore. He continued the refrain, as a rallying cry of sorts: "Send a message the entire country is going to hear. This is our time. This is our moment. We will not shirk, we will not flinch, we will not blink. We will win, just as those who came before us did."

Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes
Will you join in our crusade?
Who will be strong and stand with me?
Beyond the barricade
Is there a world you long to see?
Then join in the fight
That will give you the right to be free

I am a Maryland resident, and have found Wes Moore to be very reticent to say anything about the orange anus. I have been very disappointed in him. I have emailed him many times and told him it is time to grow a spine and put himself out there like Pritzker and Walz.

the stereotype of the "angry black man" persists so he has to do it "differently". Obama faced 8 years of torture because of that.

The holidays will be approaching, and we shouldn't be offering ANY olive branches to Nazi republican voters. The mere fact that they vote for that fat felon tells me they're racist and need to reflect and change. Also, anti-gay bigotry. Sick f6cks.
I recommend NEVER supporting JK Rowling and her organizations she's tied to also. Cheers and keep the heat on 'em!

Of the Right's Culture :

But I thought you were the tolerant left *libs*"?

It is incumbent on us to craft a Culture Driven Message that allows the absence of tolerance when Demonizing the maga Repubs for what they ARE.

Moore:

They have the Confederacy.

We have John Lewis. Fuck those people. Those culture vultures with their *woke* bullshit. They were 35 years behind the time, and loud yell given to Black Gen X at the end of School Daze.

Let's bring the bastards to heel and punish them and their Traitorous Ideology.

Based on some serious thought on how systems work in the short and longer range in a democracy. If you read it and agree, pass it on to your influential person.

Democrats should do a daily (every day Congress is in session) news feature of 5-10 minutes daily saying "Here's what terrible things have happened today" that the mainstream broadcast or radio news can run sound bites from. Video, but also understandable in audio like a podcast. Put one or two Democrats on a mic in front of a camera and a green screen every day to check in.

Kind of what Rachel Maddow does, but shorter and more concise. Keep hitting the tennis ball back against the wall.

they would need to do it as part of a segment on one of the "known" liberal podcasters (like Meiselas/MeidasTouch or Maddow or Olbermann or even what is going to be the new Joy Reid one).

They can't do "standalone" as it will get lost in all the chatting going on over the internet.

You might recall when Raygun revived FDR's "fireside chats" as a "Weekly Radio Address" and those continued through to Obama where suddenly, stations started running the feed at an ungodly hour early in the morning on Saturdays, and then with 45's first election, he eventually halted them altogether. Biden tried to bring them back as a "Weekly Conversation" - eg., (from July 17, 2021) -

But then that faded again. The M$M basically ignored them.
