Scott Bessent says people should have 'empathy' for Trump after president celebrated Robert Mueller's death

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent defended President Donald Trump for celebrating Robert Muellers death, saying the president deserved empathy because he and his family had been through a lot because of various investigations.
When asked whether the presidents Truth Social post saying Good, Im glad hes dead was appropriate, Bessent argued nobody could understand what Trump had been through.
I think that given what has been done to President Trump and his family, it is impossible for either of us to understand what he has been through, Bessent told Kristen Welker on Meet the Press Sunday.
I think that we should have a little empathy for what has been done to him and his family, Bessent added, referring to the 2022 raid on the Trumps residence at Mar-a-Lago, which Mueller was not part of. Bessent refused to say whether the president of the United States should celebrate the death of any American.

45 was up in NYC during that search and seizure on August 8, 2022.
And for what?
His company's BUSINESS FRAUD testimony was scheduled for August 10th, 2022.
This yet another "jump the shark" moment. I will provide the below for emphasis -

(632 posts)Its so odd that the media doesnt key in on this administrations habit of everybody covering for everybody else regardless of their official position. Its like they are resigned to the fact that our entire government is the Presidents, or at least Trumps, play thing and not only is that okay, its also totally normal.

But I have no empathy for the GOP and maggots that keep such a dangerous deluded felon in power. Would any of us
really be shocked to wake up tomorrow to news that he's invaded Cuba, or invaded Greenland, or nuked Teheran, or
pranced around naked on the White House lawn?
We should just refer to him as Mad King Donald and insist he be removed from office now. At some point even the GOP will
realize they can't be on the same page as this insane sick fuck.

I certainly wouldn't, but I would need to have my eyeballs disinfected.

(148 posts)I'm afraid that recovering from this disaster (Trump in power) is going to take a lot more than some eye bleach. The damage they have done is really incalculable. And all under the "MAGA" brand and as self-proclaimed "patriots" ... what a bad joke.

Remember in 2019, when Trump falsely told the public that Mueller âexoneratedâ him, and the special counselâs findings âcould not have been betterâ?

Trumpâs celebration of Muellerâs passing suggests heâs forgotten his own lazy lies.

Donald Trump, however, didnt quite see it that way. After Mueller died on Friday at age 81, the incumbent American president responded in a uniquely Trumpian fashion.....
The written statement was jarring to the extent that it offered a fresh reminder about Trumps indecency, classlessness and fundamentally twisted character, though it was not too surprising. After all, the presidents ugly public reaction to filmmaker Rob Reiners death three months earlier removed any lingering doubts about Trumps capacity for crude offensiveness.
Whats more, the Republican incumbent has a political incentive to continue his assault on the former special counsels findings: Mueller and his report made it unambiguously clear that Russia interfered in the U.S. presidential election in 2016, specifically because of the Kremlins desire to help elevate Trump to the White House. Mueller similarly found that Trumps political operation was aware of Russias interference, expected to benefit from it and took a series of deliberate steps to obstruct the federal investigation into the scandal......
While these details were largely forgotten, in March 2019, Trump agreed that Mueller served honorably as the special counsel, and soon after, the president told reporters, referring to a document he clearly had not read, The Mueller report was great. It could not have been better.
Six years ago this week, the Republican published a tweet in which he said the Mueller report had led to his total EXONERATION.
He was clearly and unambiguously lying, but the point at the time was simple: Trump hoped to convince Americans that Mueller had delivered a victory for the president and his political operation.
Six years later, the question for the White House is simple. If Mueller exonerated Trump, and Muellers findings could not have been better for the president, why is Trump celebrating Muellers death?
I did not post trump's actual attack on Robert Mueller. That attack has been posted on a number of threads. trump obviously lied about the Mueller report exonerating him.
