KENNER, La. - Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry has welcomed the idea of the Louisiana National Guard to help with security at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
In a post, Landry stated, "President @realdonaldtrumpLouisiana always stands ready to help. With your approval, we would proudly welcome our National Guard at Louisiana airports to help ease these security lines caused by the Democrat shutdown."
This comes after President Donald Trump stated he would send ICE agents to the airports to help TSA by guarding exit lanes and checking passenger IDs.
Because of the partial federal shutdown, many TSA workers across the country have called out sick, causing a staffing shortage. Travelers at MSY are experiencing long lines with multiple lanes being closed.
