Saturday saw the highest call-out rate of TSA officers at airports since the partial Department of Homeland Security shutdown began, according to exclusive data from the Transportation Safety Administration first obtained by ABC News.
Over 3,250 officers called out Saturday, March 21, according to TSA data, accounting for 11.51% of the scheduled workforce.
Airport security lines are growing nationwide as TSA officers, who havent received a paycheck for over three weeks, call out of work. Over the weekend, President Donald Trump posted on his social media platform that he will deploy Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to airports beginning Monday unless Democrats agree to a funding package to end the DHS shutdown.
Democrats are demanding reforms to ICE and Customs and Border Protection policies before they will vote to fund the DHS.

(438 posts)while TSA agents are calling out sick, take a moment to check your ticket details. Often listed as "September 11th security fee" you will see a mandatory charge of $4.60 or $11 on a return flight. That is your payment for TSA services. That is the funding for the TSA that the government is unable to "find"
Not the busiest airport in the country - and ignoring the numerous passengers who will complete a return business flight I one day, an airport like JFK will generate about $786,000 dollars in TSA fees today.
TSA agents are paid $34 - 50,000 a year - which means that in a week, ticket sales for flights through JFK generate enough fees to pay 137 TSA agents for a year on mid-salaries on $40k
