''Shocked' FDA staffers walked out on RFK Jr.'s slur-ridden speech: report'
"Visiting the FDA on Friday, HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. had several 'off -the-cuff' remarks which stunned many staffers present, according to a POLITICO report."
"The outlet obtained a transcript and audio of the speech where Kennedy claimed, 'The Deep State is real. And its not, you know, just George Soros and Bill Gates and a bunch of nefarious individuals sitting together in a room and plotting the, you know, the destruction of humanity.'"
"The speech only became worse as he claimed, 'every institution thats created by human beings is inevitably captured by powerful interests.' Kennedy later added that 'We want to break away from this so we can make our kids healthy.'"
"The most insulting comment, however, came when he used an ableist slur when discussing mental health. 'Because of my familys commitment to these issues, I spent 200 hours ... with the r------d when I was in high school,' Kennedy said at one point. 'So I was seeing people with intellectual disabilities all the time. I never saw anybody with autism.'"
"The 40-minute remarks also accused the employees he was speaking to of becoming a 'sock puppet' of the industries they regulate, seemingly because of CIA mind control. 'The CIAs Project MKUltra a notorious human experimentation program from the 1960s and the Milgram experiment, a well-known study meant to test peoples willingness to obey authority even if it meant inflicting pain on others.'"

(124,655 posts)Of course he didn't think he saw people with autism when he was in high school because at that time it often wasn't diagnosed as such. Until the 70s or so, autism was frequently misdiagnosed as a form of childhood schizophrenia, or else kids with autism were just written off as "retarded," as he so insensitively put it. When I was a kid there was a boy in my neighborhood who was a little older than me, and now I realize that he was autistic - but in those days (the '60s) everybody said he was just "retarded." You couldn't carry on a regular conversation with him, and he didn't go to school, but he could play the piano and he had this weird ability to tell you what day of the week any date in the future fell on. He was about 14 the last time I saw him, which was after his mother died of cancer, and then the family moved away. I don't know what became of him; I'm afraid he might have been institutionalized because his dad had to work and couldn't look after him and the younger siblings. In those days that's what often happened to those kids. You can be damn sure Bobby Brainworm saw kids with autism, though. He just didn't know what he was seeing and didn't bother to try to understand. BTW, the boy I knew would have been born in about 1946-47, long before the MMR vaccine came out. Autism was recognized, though not understood, long before there were vaccines. Kennedy is a dangerous fool.
I worked in an institution for the developmentally disabled for 3 decades starting in 78 and most of the folks I worked with were born in the 30s and 40s and while I didnt know at the time I witnessed many of the characteristics now associated with autism. Youre also correct we didnt have a name for it then, every symptom folks had was under that one very broad term, the R word. Theres true irony in the MMR vax causing autism when the mere fact that pregnant women catching measles was the cause of so many babies born with disabilities. I read hundreds of case histories of disabled folks and there was a common thread, the mothers caught measles in the first trimester of pregnancy.

(4,091 posts)I'm his age. I suspect many of the children we labeled "slow" or whatever the term was back then would be diagnosed as "autistic" today. They can better distinguish now between brain damage from birth injuries, for example, and autism.
But he's capable of knowing this. After all, his very own aunt was mentally disabled and institutionalized because that's what rich people did back then.
Every Trump hire is horrible in a new and horrible way. He's in charge of the nation's health, god spare us.

everything they are doing. But he's clueless.
You'd think brainworm would be more sympathetic to mental disorders, but nope. He's as hypocritical as the rest of the bunch.
