Should I buy a new I-Phone?

Got an SE now. 5-6 years old. No problems.

But . . . . I'm concerned about the tariffs hitting the I-Phones as they're made in China.

Even if the tariffs are reduced, the extra cost will be passed down when I do truly need a new I-Phone.

Right now the I-Phone 16 is $600+ and could cost close to $800 later.

And $800 isn't the final cost. By the time I may need a new phone, inflation will add to the $800.

The news has warned about the I-Phones starting to be sold with the tariff(s).

Any advice is welcome. Thank you.

will surely keep the price down. Disease, lack of vaccination, food insecurity and poisonings, pollutants, massacres. The list is endless.

Don't buy a new iPhone. Or a used one. If you have one... get rid if it! Iphones only have one purpose and it's a paper weight.....wait..... they do tend to spontaneously combust so maybe not a paper-weight per se. They are useless, inferior to the tin can and string method of calling, and should be avoided at all costs. Just avoid any apple products in general, you'll be better off for it. If you don't care for the smart phone alternatives, just try yelling loudly...in the direction of your intended call recipient. Better than an iPhone.

And what is your main usage? Support will be ending for that model soon, if that is important to you. You might want to look at renewed models as well. Sometimes (especially with apple) the latest models upgrades don’t justify the cost.

supported for a while... The SE-2 is still receiving all the latest updates and is on the list for the upcoming ones, so the third generation should be for a long time to come, even if they are now not on the product line.

I still use an iMac that hasn’t been supported for years now. Upgraded the ram and added an ssd. Still works like a champ. Actually, it’s faster than it ever was. Then again, unless I am recording, or editing. I use an iPad. Which goes with me everywhere. Phones are too small to be of much use besides navigation and the camera. And of course the most overlooked feature. Actually using it as a phone, lol.

and yes, I agree that even unsupported devices can still be used for years. I have an iPad Air-2 that I still love. A couple of apps are no longer supported, but with external power sources, even if the battery is fading, I can still use it for a lot of things. And obviously, plugged in at home, it is a great option for many routine functions.

But, I want a phone small enough to fit in my scrubs pocket at work and a walking vest or jacket pocket at home.

will be no smaller iPhones--at least any time soon--per Apple announcement with release of the iPhone 16. I can get a refurbished iPhone SE 3rd generation, which is the same size (or similar), and I am thinking about that. This phone is working great (I replaced the battery about a year ago under an extended AppleCare plan).

So, I am tempted to buy a refurbished, unlocked iPhone 3rd generation. Is that what you have or do you have SE-2?

Damn, why does Apple not care about medical professionals who need to have something that fits in their pocket.

Got a 16Pro and a 16.
Spent $2,503.52 for the two here in France.
Love them, and they seem a major upgrade from the 12s.
Traded in the 12s and got a $300 rebate.

Prices are higher here, but that's fine.

We also replaced our laptops.
