Enjoying a Martinez tonight.

Gin, sweet vermouth, marischino liqueur, and a dash of orange bitters. It’s good. It’s sweet, but has that acidic bite of gin.

I’m told it’s considered one of the forerunners of the classic Martini.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Our older daughter graduated from college! BS in Mathematics from the University of Alabama in Huntsville! We moved her out of her dorm the next day! And, we moved our younger daughter out of her dorm at Georgia Southern University! She has 2 years to go, majoring in Health & Rehab Sciences. We're very proud of both of them!

It's beer thirty!

I'm a native and briefly attended UAH in the 70s before I turned to machine work full time.

8. Unfortunately, here in AL our voters mostly believe we shouldn't waste our tax $$$ on education ...

... I know at least one Professor, who left UAH for another school, gave an interview to the local paper in which he complained about how the Dept. couldn't even keep basic supplies in stock. And he had done some very important work in the new superconductors -- any well-funded school should have jumped through hoops to keep him there.

A former Professor I met in a social context described his former Dept. as a "dying department".

I taught one course at UAH for one semester in that "dying department", and the description which came to my mind was "moribund" -- this before I spoke to that former professor !

Choose a graduate school very carefully; if things go bad, it can screw up the rest of your career for years and years.
