Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsDecision on what to do with my mother's mink stole.
One of my granddaughters has shown an interest and final decision will be made over the 4th of July holiday week when we all will gather.. It's a bit odd because she's quite vocal on very liberal views in our (all Dem) family.
So I actually put the thing on in front of a mirror. It was very flattering! I was not expecting that.
My conclusion: mink makes you look good. The colors look good next to older skin and gray hair.
Onward to lively discussions about politics (our family's favorite topic).

(72,490 posts)do take it to a furrier b4 wearing it. the hides likely need a clean and conditioning. it will shed like crazy if not taken care of.
(things i learned from the watching repair shop.)

(57 posts)My husband bought me a mink jacket. I loved the color and It was a perfect fit. But almost immediately my eyes were red and tearing and my nose started dripping.
I am allergic to Mink. The store clerk understood and told me that I would not
have this reaction if I bought a beaver fur jacket.
I once made a rabbit pillow and had the same reaction.
And I ate rabbit for dinner, once. Wow, was I sick.

(23,231 posts)I think it had been overlooked as it was pushed in the back of a closet with a lot of other clothes in front of it.
It has been nice on the rare occasions I have needed a wrap if going out to a fancy event.
I find it hilarious that the fur coats pop out at my church when the temperature drops to the low 40s. I need it to get colder than that before I get out my winter coat.
