Two adolescent brothers discuss the essence of manhood and have their arms tattooed in order to demonstrate their manliness. After seeing the results, the parents beat them, although for entirely different reasons. In the ensuing years, the brother who narrates the song finds himself tattooed head to toe, as is his wife. Since the song was released in 1967 when tattoos were far less common than today, it seems way ahead of its time.

Bobby Vee’s song was released in 1962, but the video was made in 1963, the same year the first Beach Blanket film was made so I wonder if they just rented the beach stage set. Campy as it gets
