The Reflecting Pool Cocktail!

Ladies and gentlemen: I have invented a new cocktail. I call it the Reflecting Pool. It’s 1/3 green absinthe, 2/3 chartreuse or crème de menthe, with a dash of bitters. Garnish with smashed blueberries for that flaking-paint look. I think a splash of champagne would be nice (a nod to the aeration bubbles), but we didn’t have any at the test kitchen.
Please share — especially if you know anyo bartenders. And feel free to add your own spin. I’m hoping this will catch on. [Imbibe with care; it packs quite a punch!] Cheers!

Absinthe is too complex of a flavor to mix with another liqueur (IMHO). And it is expensive. Too sophisticated to waste on a "swamp" drink.

Chartreuse tastes like dirty socks.

Creme de Menthe tastes pretty good, but doesn't scream swamp to me.

The only element that works for me is the blueberries.

I think Midori liqueur would be the proper base liquor. It is melon flavored, so a bit of a summery feel. I think it could be mixed with Mountain Dew. It might not taste delicious, but it shouldn't. It should be kind of swamp-like. BUT - first muddle some blueberries in the bottom of the glass.

And yes - I was a bartender for many years.

Brilliant, bleeping brilliant!

I'm not much of a drinker, so I will take the word of the DUer posting above me about the taste - I just think the look of it sounds spot on.

though my repertoire is limited to a dry gin martini and a traditional Manhattan. But drinking aside, I am one cat shy if being your equal.

We had 3 when I first needed a screen name, and rather than change it every time our cat population fluctuated, I kept it to honor the 3 we had when I chose the name.
