My father, US Army in the Pacific, loved the music of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and Glenn Miller.

On this Memorial Day, I offer the music of Major Glenn Miller, Army Air Force, who went missing in action (MIA) on December 15, 1944, on a flight over the English Channel from England to France.

My own father was also in the Army and in the Pacific Theater of Operations, and Glenn Miller was his favorite band leader.

There's such optimism in the music. In these days, I will have to return to my former practice of listening to the big bands. It's been a long, long time.

Had to stay miles away.

Found out it was the weekend of the annual Glenn Miller concert in Clarinda IA, when he would have been 100.
