Related: About this forumKeith Urban's new record of 70's covers "flow state" is pretty entertaining.
It's hardly revelatory and leans heavily into 'faithful' covers (which hey, some people love!), but like I say, it's entertaining, worth checking out if you like 70's rock/pop hits. Some of the others on the disc are I'm Not In Love, Baby Come Back, Steal Away, Summer Breeze, and I Just Wanna Stop.
And if you're thinking "Keith Urban and John Mayer covering Guitar Man? That damn sure better mean a wicked guitar duel at some point!?!" (which is what you should be thinking), I'm hear to tell you ..... make sure you listen to the end
If you, like me, also really love the 90's, this is very solid live cover of the New Radical's classic hit "You Get What You Give"

(21,095 posts)Most of them are glorified karaoke stars wearing a guitar with no strings.
People like Billy Ray Cyrus turned country music into an ass shaking contest.
I didn't know that New Radicals song until I listened to it. That was great!

(4,196 posts)I'm otherwise something of a hipster music snob and don't much care for the slick music product coming out of Nashville the last few decades, but I'll give Urban some love exactly because he's no joke on the guitar. He's also, shall we say, pretty easy on the eyes
Come to think of it, that's also why I ended up coming around to John Mayer about 14 years ago (along with his album Born and Raised). Now I'm a pretty big Mayer fan honestly. Didn't hurt his stock with me that he ended up in Dead & Co for years. If those guys will let you stand-in for Jerry, it says something
