(12,334 posts)Until we had an ice fog here in East Tennessee. It's much cooler up close. It's like all these tiny pieces of ice floating around you. It was amazing.

(164,075 posts)The NWS calls it "freezing fog" and they do have an alert for it as one of their advisory products! All you basically need is to have your air temp and dewpoint temperature close to each other and near/at/below the water freezing temp of 32 (where the humidity would then be close to 100%) and have little or no wind, to trigger it.

(28,220 posts)tic toc base is @ 1800 feet msl we have been getting tule fog overnight with visibility @ 0/0 visibility . right now visibility is 10 mi, but that looks burrrr.
