The city will designate 365 days of the year as "special occasions" to work around an Idaho state law dictating what flags can be flown at government buildings.

BONNERS FERRY, Idaho — The City of Bonners Ferry passed a resolution Tuesday that will allow city buildings to continue flying the Canadian flag, which goes directly against a recent state law detailing what flags government buildings can fly.

"We were like the same country, in a sense, you go to Canada and play volleyball and baseball, and softball. They're kind of part of our community," said Cal Russell, a lifelong Bonners Ferry resident.
