Sheriff Booker (D) Announces Candidacy For Re-Election

John F. Booker, currently serving as Sheriff of Whiteside County, proudly announces his candidacy for re-election, to continue his service to the community for a third term. With 34 years of Law Enforcement experience and a deep commitment to the people of Whiteside County, Booker is focused on maintaining the County’s safety and continuing to improve the Sheriff’s Office, to better serve its residents.

“I am honored to have served as your Sheriff for the past two terms, and I’m excited to announce that I am running for re-election to build on the progress we’ve made together,” said Booker. “Having lived in Whiteside County for 34 years, I understand the values and needs of our community….[M]y experience has prepared me to continue leading the Sheriff’s Office with integrity, professionalism, and dedication. Politics has no place behind the wheel of a patrol car….I will continue to ensure that our Law Enforcement remains focused on what truly matters–keeping our community safe.”

As Sheriff, Booker has faced challenges unlike those of previous administrations. From managing the unprecedented public health crisis of COVID-19 to navigating the complexities of the Illinois Safety Act, Booker demonstrated resilient leadership in the face of adversity. No other Sheriff has faced the unique set of circumstances that this Office encountered during my tenure,” Booker said. “COVID-19 changed everything–from how we interact with the community, to how we safeguard our Deputies. I’m proud of the way we adapted, to ensure the continued safety of Whiteside County.

Additionally, the implementation of the Illinois Safety Act presented new challenges for Law Enforcement agencies across the State, including Whiteside County. Booker has worked tirelessly to understand the new law’s provisions and ensure that the Sheriff’s Office is both compliant and effective in its execution. “While new laws often bring uncertainty, my focus has always been on ensuring the safety of our community, and I’ve led our Department through these changes to uphold our core mission,” Booker added.
