Related: About this forumI'm Hoping Someone In Illinois (Preferably In The Chicago Area) Could Help Me - I'm Looking For A Lawn Mower Repair.....
service or company - that can repair a Kobalt Electric Lawn Mower - purchased at Lowe's in the Chicago Area.
Currently - I'm getting the run around from both Lowe's and Kobalt with their lack of customer service.
Both say they can't help me.
Either both companies don't believe or trust in their product/line (Kobalt) or they just don't provide Customer Service to their customers.
I'm at my wit's end. I realize my warranty is expired as I purchased this mower in 2018.
I'm not looking for them to give me a new mower or replace this one for free. I'm willing to take it to a lawn mower repair service. Have them fix it. And I would pay for it myself. I just want to be able to cut my grass.
I was told by Kobalt that they don't have service centers set up to repair their lawn mowers. This is 2025. I purchased this product in 2018. Seven years have gone by without Lowe's or Kobalt to set up a repair network. Not hard to do. Bring in some Kobalt experts to train lawn mower repair people and train them how to service their product.
It's a win-win for both Kobalt and Lowe's if they did this. I would think they'd sell more product. Even the lawn mower repair businesses would benefit.
Bottom line - Lowe's and Kobalt just don't care.
I'll never purchase another product from Lowe's again. They rank at the bottom for Customer Service.
Any help that anyone can provide me would be appreciated. Thank You!!!

(37,645 posts)A non-Kobalt mower from them and they service the model I boughtmaybe they would service your Kobalt.
Do you have a NextDoor app where you live? You could post a request on it, if so. Theres a guy in my general area who does mobile service. Expensive but an option if you have the same.

(3,118 posts)I have no idea about a repair shop near you as I'm in Vandalia. I do have a suggestion that has worked for me and is likely part of your issue and maybe all of it. (fingers crossed)
Try removing and rinsing the fuel filter out and then give it a few tugs and maybe Walla!
I hope this saves you a trip and is certainly worth trying. Also, change the spark plug.
Good Luck!

(2,393 posts)Some place like Batteries Plus can check the battery and the charger.
Being that the battery is at least 7 years old it is possible that that is the problem.
If not, that is if the battery and charger are good, then the breakdown becomes a question of whether the switch is good and if electric is getting to the motor. Just about any electrician can check the switch and power to the motor.

(8,461 posts)you can get one self propelled for around 500.00 . I can't imagine the cost to repair yours will be much less than that.

(73,557 posts)Curious, because I don't picture what could go sideways, other than the battery being toast.
I've had an EGO mower since the spring of '18.
I'm still on the original battery. (I've got extras, because I also have their snowblower.)
If it's the battery, anybody with a voltmeter can see if it's showing 40V. Checking amps is more involved, as an ammeter must be part of the circuit. But, an electrician sure would know how. So would any electronics hobbyist.
Come to think of it, a loose wire on the motor or the speed selector could render the mower useless.
