McLean County Clerk Kathy Michael to run for re-election in 2026

Kathy Michael officially is running for a fifth term as the McLean County Clerk in next year's election.

The Republican incumbent announced her bid for re-election in a media release Sunday, with an informal campaign kickoff gathering planned for Monday night at a Bloomington restaurant.

Michael has held the position since 2010, winning her current term with a victory over Democratic challenger Laura McBurney.

In her release, Michael described the duties of the clerk’s office, which incorporated the responsibilities of the county recorder’s office in 2012, as “both challenging and rewarding.”
