Election seasons kicks off with a bang as 22 pull nomination papers

WOBURN - With potential contested races already brewing for School Committee and City Council seats in Ward 1 and Ward 4, Woburn’s 2025 election season sure kicked off real hot.

According to City Clerk Lindsay Higgins, just before the close of business last Thursday, her office had already certified the candidacies of seven citizens running for City Council and School Committee, while 15 others had been in City Hall in the days prior to pull nomination papers.

On Nov. 4, voters in Woburn will cast ballots for a variety of elected offices, including for mayor, all City Council members, and five of the city’s seven School Committee seats.

Indicating he will seek a second-term in City Hall’s corner office, Mayor Michael Concannon has pulled nomination papers but not yet returned them for certification. So far, no one has emerged to challenge the chief executive’s re-election hopes.
