Mount Clemens voters crush capital needs bond plan in Tuesday's election

Voters in the Mount Clemens Community School District overwhelmingly rejected a controversial $91.8 million bond proposal on Tuesday that would have included a millage reduction.

According to unofficial results compiled by the Macomb County Clerk’s Office, the bond program fell as 66.9% voted against it compared to 33.1% who were in favor.

Superintendent Julian Roper said the district will comment about the election results on Wednesday.

The Board of Education wanted to borrow $91.8 million to restore the historical high school building, create separate high school and junior high school learning environments with secure entrance vestibules and build new additions to the secondary complex.
