Boone County on track for average voter turnout in August special election

OLUMBIA — With just over a week left until the Aug. 5 special election, Boone County voters have been heading to the polls.

No-excuse absentee voting opened last week, and some Boone County residents have been casting their ballots early. Boone County Clerk Brianna Lennon said about 700 ballots have already been cast.

"I think it's pretty comparable when it comes to special election turnout," Lennon said.

Lennon said the county clerk's office is expecting 8-9% turnout.
