A new Emerson College survey of New York Citys Democratic primary for mayor finds 35% of voters support Andrew Cuomo (D) on the first round of the ballot, 23% support Zohran Mamdani (D), 11% support Brad Lander (D), 9% Scott Stringer (D), 8% Adrienne Adams (D), and 5% Zellnor Myrie (D).
After ten rounds of rank choice simulation, Cuomo passes the 50% threshold with 54%, and Mamdani ends with 46%.
Said pollster Spencer Kimball: With four weeks to go, the question is whether Cuomo can run out the clock, or if he needs to win over second-choice voters to hold off Mamdanis momentum.

(5,534 posts)(even though hes now running on the independent line) yet people here bash him all the time without consequence. Cuomo is just as bad in his own way.

(12,624 posts)Since he has already announced he will be running only as an independent, is he still a Dem, merely based on how he got elected last time? I assume it would be against forum rules to advocate for his re-election.

(12,624 posts)If a Dem is largely unpopular, it's possible that nobody who sees the post feels motivated to alert on it. But if someone did, and a jury reviewed, I think such a post probably would get hidden.

(12,624 posts)...but I'd take either of them over Cuomo or Adams.
And of course, there was Rudy, as you say.
New York is one of the most liberal and Democratic cities in the country, and is an area with an above average level of education. I'd have hoped for a better string of mayors.
