City Council District 6 candidates headed to runoff

SAN ANTONIO — In District 6, Kelly Ann Gonzalez and Ric Galvan will go head to head in a run off on June 7. They are looking to fill the seat vacated by Melissa Cabello Havrda, who lost her bid for mayor.

It was an extremely close race between the top two candidates with Kelly Ann Gonzalez receiving 19.70% of the vote (1,657 votes), and her opponent Ric Galvan receiving 19.37% of the vote (1,629 votes)), according to Bexar County Election results. Just 28 votes separated the pair of front-runners.

Kelly Ann Gonzalez says she was born and raised in District 6 where her family owned a small restaurant and she honed her work ethic. Gonzalez says that her priority if elected is ensuring our infrastructure keeps up with our growth.

"Traffic congestion and speeding are issues throughout our district," says Gonzalez. "A coordinated traffic plan and traffic-calming review should be conducted within the first 100 days of my term."
