Park City holds election workshop, but some attendees not revealing any political plans
The field of declared candidates for the Park City election this year did not widen on Tuesday evening even though there were people at the Marsac Building who may have privately decided to mount a campaign.
The municipal government hosted a workshop designed for people who are considering becoming a candidate for the mayors office or one of the two seats on the Park City Council that are on the ballot. Several of the people in attendance, though, declined to comment about any political intentions. The window when candidates must file paperwork formalizing campaigns does not open for several weeks, but in some cases people announce their bids for office prior to the filing period.
There is one declared candidate for mayor City Councilor Ryan Dickey and City Councilor Tana Toly has said she will seek reelection. Mayor Nann Worel is not seeking reelection, while City Councilor Jeremy Rubell, whose seat is on the ballot, has not publicly declared whether he will be a candidate.
The filing window runs from June 2 until June 6. A primary election would be held in August if more than two people compete for the mayors office or if there are more than four candidates for the City Council. A primary, if required, would reduce the mayoral field to two and the City Council field to four for Election Day in November. The winners in November will be sworn into office in early January for four-year terms.
