Battery tech companies in Moses Lake undeterred by Trump's climate policy threats

President Donald Trump targeted Biden-era climate policies almost immediately upon taking office.

The 2021 $1.2 trillion infrastructure law, an effort that included support for green energy infrastructure, has funneled hundreds of millions of dollars into the central Washington city of Moses Lake and the battery tech companies descending on the area. Despite threats to that law and the Inflation Reduction Act from the Trump administration, those companies remain undeterred.

“While there is some sentiment against clean energy, the other perspective is I think there’s definitely an all-of-the-above strategy for American energy,” said Gene Berdichevsky, co-founder and CEO of the California-based battery tech company Sila.

Trump has talked about dismantling Biden-era policies, and he signed an executive order on his first day in office that paused infrastructure law and IRA funding to clean energy projects. A federal judge in April, however, ordered the Trump administration to resume already-awarded funding.
