Marysville to host open house on new middle housing rules

EVERETT — Marysville planning staff will host an open house Monday to discuss new city regulations on “middle housing,” regulations it must implement to comply with new state law.

The open house will take place 4-6 p.m. Monday at 6120 Grove St. in Marysville. Another open house is planned for 4-6 p.m. on June 2 at 17023 11th Ave. NE in Arlington.

In 2023, the state adopted House Bill 1110, which required most cities to allow middle housing — duplexes, triplexes, courtyard apartments and townhomes, among others — in most areas previously zoned solely for single-family homes.

Marysville is set to adopt regulations allowing two dwelling units on all lots primarily designated for residential use, and four on lots designated for residential use within a quarter mile of bus rapid transit.
