Election season kicks off as 11 candidates file to run for Kent Mayor & City Council positions in 2025
The 2025 election season kicked off on Friday, May 9, with eleven candidates vying for four open positions, with three incumbents seeking re-election and eight others aiming to bring fresh perspectives to the council.
The biggest competition will be in Position 6, held by incumbent Brenda Fincher, who is not running for reelection. This seat has seven candidates running for it.
The Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 5, with the top two vote-getters moving on to the General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
Incumbent Mayor Dana Ralph is running unopposed, and ten candidates are running for three open seats on the Kent City Council (Positions 2, 4 & 6, including two incumbents).
