An Already-Broken India-Pakistan Ceasefire & the Limits of U.S. Mediation - William Spaniel

India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire, but claims of violations followed only a few hours later. Today's video explores an inherent issue that will arise with this ceasefire, or any other ceasefire that may arise later. In prior decades, the United States played a significant role in mediating disputes between the two parties. However, today, Washington faces a bottleneck problem. There are many competing priorities, and the United States government only has so much time to allocate to all of them. The subcontinent ranks low on the list, and thus the mediation options available will be significantly limited going forward.
