The tumor is the same size, but it is probably dead tissue. It has not grown. The doc says everything is satisfactory. My body may discard what is left in my lung.
I will have another scan in June.

(1,330 posts)I'm curious if you had a cancerous tumor? Bc my husband has just been told he has lung cancer. He has only heard the basics on treatment options. Radiation, surgery or chemo. The surgery of removing a lobe of the lung sounds so disabling. Radiation doesn't bother him, but he isn't likely to accept chemo. He is also considering doing nothing.
I'm so happy for you. I've had breast cancer, husband has already had bladder and prostate cancer. Got through those ok. We are having some fun now, aren't we?

(32,037 posts)My tumor was stage 1 cancer. It would have grown and metastasized if not treated. It was early enough that five strong doses of radiation could work. Stereotactic radiation can be 90% effective. It may not be the right treatment for him. Try radiation first. That is what my oncologist recommended. I would have surgery, but not a total lobectomy if this does not work. I am 74. I hope any decision like that is far down the road.

(12,455 posts)My onco said that no growth is still a good sign. It took 3 scans (so about 8 mo) for my dr to say that my inoperable enlarged lymph node they were watching was 'reactive' to my most recent rad treatment and not a spread.
Holding you up in my heart and prayers!

(7,058 posts)Good news indeed.
Wife has regular scans for the same reason.
Originally picked up accidentally on a scan for pneumonia. Cloudy scan, and oops, what is that spot?
She considers herself lucky.
Same for her, no change in size - moved to 6 monthly scans.
