Related: About this forum5 year milestone
In January of 2021 I had a routine mammogram that turned out not to be so routine after all. After a biopsy, ultra sound and MRI, I was diagnosed with an invasive form of breast cancer. The good news was it was caught early and had not spread. I opted for a mastectomy, radiation and a daily hormone suppressant medication. Fortunately, I didnt need chemo.
My 5 year mammogram came back negative and I will graduate out of oncology in May. Ill still do the annual mammograms but no further treatment will be necessary. Yay.
I did request genetic testing because I have 3 granddaughters and wanted them to know if I could pass it on to them. That came back negative, too.
So glad we live in the 21st century. The odds of survival get better and better.
