Where is the blade to peel though?

I had one of these, but I could never get it to work efficiently. Gave it away to a friend who used it no problem. I am the problem.

13. The little loop with the wing nut does the peeling (you can't see the blade in this shot)

and the loop at the left side does the coring.

I found this, no doubt at a thrift store. From Starfrit.

All plastic, with visible gears. A mechanical marvel.

16. Once saw a photo of a collection of old apple peelers

of this general principle. Easily dozens, all different. Probably late 19th to early 20th century.
