I sing to my cats. Yes, I'm THAT crazy cat lady.

To Martini, I sing to the tune of "Maria" from West Side Story: 🎵 Martini, I just met a cat named Martini. 🎵

To Holly, I sing to the tune of "Hello, Dolly": 🎵 Hello Holly, well, hello Holly, it's so nice to have you back where you belong 🎵 and Holly will turn her head away from me. It's hilarious. I think she hates my singing, but who doesn't?

And sometimes I sing to the tune of the theme song from "The Golden Girls": 🎵 Thank you for being my cat. 🎵

Am I alone in this?

They consider it cruel and unusual punishment but I just can’t stop.

...or she's trying to sing along. She shows up meowing loudly, and one time nipped me on the chin while I was playing my flute. She does the same thing for singing from a TV show or YouTube video, but only for female voices.

and she would meow after every line. I never did figure out if she was singing along or telling me to shut up!

I use existing music

One of our cats is a recluse. Her name is Ellie, and I have sung "Eleanor Kitty sits by herself on the big water bed"
and "Ellie Belly, you're the one"

There are others but it's 1:00 am and I can't think of much

And I get slow eye blinks in exchange.

I pull him under the covers at night, when he is cold.

I hold him tight, and he goes limp and rattles in the chest.

And this is a cat that wandered in off the street one day, some 5 years ago.

Pets make our lives better. No matter the circumstances. Simple!

the only reason I'm not writing songs to & about cats is my lack of a cat...
over the years, when the critter's life comes to an end, it just about kills me. so I'm limited to neighborhood cats & friends who have cats - IOW, cats at a distance.

I make up silly songs that rhyme. It's funny now that you mention it, I've only ever sung for my girls, not one for the boys.
I guess my Petunia for 14 years and my Pookie for another 15 years from late eighties to early aughts.
I do talk to Cuddles when we walk, and Moofy Moo, and Nugget too when I go back and visit them at Toby's moms house.

I often sang to my dogs. They seem to "like" it. My cats looked at me as if I was crazy, though.

We got a rescue beagle, maybe 25 years ago, she was sick and weak and the vet said she'd probably die. I sat up with her all day and night for a week or more making up nonsense songs about her name, Sarah.

She lived a productive life but I miss her to this day.

I sang to my dogs while we played and, much more sadly, when they were old and dying.

I used to pet and play with them while singing "She Rubs You (Yeah Yeah Yeah), PS, I Rub You, and "Rub Me Do" and other such "rub" songs by the Beatles.

They're all gone now and we're old and lonely.

Every night, I would hold the cell up for her to be sung to. She would go to the phone and rub the phone while S. was singing the song.

When I sing because he comes running in and jumping up on my lap and putting his paw on me in support.

I didn't think it was that bad. Everyone used to tell me I had a pretty singing voice.
