Life with Martini and Holly, the Wonder Cats

They're on veterinary food which makes them very thirsty. This morning they both woke me up, "water! water! water! water!" I got up and got their bowl and as usual, Martini stood in the exact spot where the bowl goes, so I had to put the bowl on the counter and pick her up to make room and she clung to the placemat so it went all askew. I straightened the mat and put the water bowl down and they both rushed to drink out of it. I got them some fresh food, but Holly was across the entire placemat drinking the water so I had to pick her up to move her over. Here's the amazing part: Holly HATES to be picked up, it's always a struggle, but today she allowed me to pick her up. Maybe it was because it was only for a few seconds to move her to another position (and not to put her in the dreaded carrier) or maybe she was just so focused on the water she didn't realize she was being picked up.

These cats amuse me and surprise me everyday and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I still had my Christmas tree up and although they had fresh water in their bowl twice a day, they still preferred to drink that nasty Christmas tree water. The tree skirt closed with velcro which was very easy for them to open. They did that for a number of years until I stopped putting a tree up. (I didn't stop having a tree because they drank the water; I just lost interest after my mother died.)

friends with the floral department!). Each of them sat in their own saucers, and I wateered them from the bottom. And my darling kitties just HAD to drink out of every single saucer, even though they always had fresh clean water in their own bowls. I was finally able to find homes for all the baby trees. My kitties were VERY unhappy with me!
