I know a lot of people have a problem with Bill Maher, but what he is talking about here is why Jews, like myself, who are lifelong progressive Democrats, feel increasingly uncomfortable in progressive spaces.

1. Please understand

Thinking People don't hate Jews. We hate the leader of Israel. One man is responsible for the ill will against Israel. Just like I don't hate the USA, but our president is responsible and...
The regular citizens of both countries have to get these awful leaders out of office. So many young people have no clue of the history of that great nation. They don't understand. Perhaps we can educate them?

2. They do hate Jews.

When you have a "protest " outside a synagogue, saying we support Hamas, that's pure Jew hate. When college students protest outside Hillel, that is Jew hate.

Of course, criticizing Netanyahu isn't antisemitic. But that is not the point of this video. People are attacking Jews around the world because they think Jews are collectively responsible for the actions of the Israeli government.

3. All I'll say...

Is note that no one laughs. The audience knows what we know: There is a difference between the other countries and Israel. We don't send billions and oceans of weapons to the other countries committing genocide. It's not antisemitism to want to stop doing that. It's not antisemitism to be horrified about the genocide being committed by the Israeli state. It's just not.

4. Bill Maher is right. The core thing Zionists hold to is that Israel has a right to exist as a sovereign nation.

Unlike Christian Nationalists or even many Christians, Jews worldwide know this about the Catholic Church.
