WILMINGTON, Del. — Men’s NCAA lacrosse got off to an unusually early and peculiar start on Friday when Delaware welcomed Utah inside Chase Fieldhouse. ... The Utes overcame a slow start en route to a dominant second half to beat the Blue Hens, 16-9.

Following a bevy of schedule adjustments, cancellations and postponements to the Week “0” slate in men’s Division I lacrosse, the Blue Hens and Utes found a way to get their game moved up a day and play indoors. Utah took its originally scheduled flight into Baltimore after practice on Thursday afternoon, got in after midnight and was ready to go for the 2026 curtain raiser.

The game was closed to the public in the tight confines of the indoor space; the Blue Hen athletic staff made a point to accommodate Inside Lacrosse and other media — which resulted in the lone DI lacrosse game of the day being experience via a cell phone live stream for fans.
