Formula 1 engineering is crazy

I bumped into an article about F1 engineers working around a loophole in the new rules for 2026. It involves compression ratio. Down from 18 to 1 to 16 to 1 this year. Measured at ambient temperature, 20 C. The old rule didn't have the ambient temp clause.
Engine size is fixed at 1600 cc, and bore at 80 mm, so your stroke is also fixed.

So with 3d printed pistons and rods at least 2 teams are ajusting the expansion of these 2 parts to get back to 18 to 1, perhaps greater.

during trial and race.

Max's wheels locked during trials two weeks ago. There was at least one accident on Sunday's race.
