Related: About this forumSaints QB Derek Carr forced to retire due to shoulder injury
Well, that's too bad.
New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr is retiring, the team announced on Saturday.
The team said that Carr had a labral tear and degenerative rotator cuff damage to his right throwing shoulder which was discovered in late March after Carr ramped up throwing to prepare for the season. The team said that Carr had not thrown significantly since he fractured his non-throwing hand during a game against the New York Giants in December.
According to the team, surgery was an option, but that would have put the 2025 season in jeopardy, and Carr decided to retire instead.

(22,955 posts)1. New Orleans will surely be in the market for another QB

(17,225 posts)3. Some talking bobble-heads speculated his injury was bogus or not a big deal,
that he was messing with the Saints for this or that reason.
Well, he's forgoing $30M by retiring (instead of having the surgery and then sitting in IR for most or all of the year), so maybe that isn't exactly what was going on.
And related useless trivia: this retirement means only one QB from that draft class is still on an NFL roster... Jimmy G.

(22,955 posts)4. And I wouldn't bet
Jimmy G. has much longer to go in the NFL either.
