...any time I went off base to explore, which was often.

It was common for the local business men to get absolutely falling-down-shit-faced-drunk after work, and then take the train home. Many times, I'd see these guys hanging their heads out the train windows, and I was always amazed they didn't get decapitated by the trains whizzing by in the opposite direction.
